Role Purpose:
Investment Banking Vice President is a high level executive at HC-IBD working closely with and reporting directly to the department Managing Director. VPs role is a mix of business sourcing and relationship management in addition to minor execution supervision. The balance will vary over time depending on the team members, but will always include a heavy component of deal sourcing and relationship management. The VP is the transaction main catalyst and the main bridge between the client and other HC-IBD members. The VP is in charge of guaranteeing excellent execution of his/her team members for existing transactions and putting the strategy related to this transaction for the team to use as a guideline while executing. The VP is continuously in charge of generating new business and expand HC’s client base in Egypt and regionally. VPs set sector strategies and… continuously identify new opportunities/potential clients for the firm. VPs maintain the department’s business relationships and are responsible for expanding and nurturing those relationships because they are able to articulate the firm’s views and sell its products and services effectively. Also, the VPs have managerial roles related to administrative issues related to the management of the group members (performance evaluations, vacation management, approve member’s punctuality, recommendation on salary increases, bonuses and promotions and approval of expenses related to the department’s petty cash)
Accountabilities:
1. Building, growing and maintaining the firm’s investment banking brand within Egypt and the region.
2. Making a significant contribution to the winning of IPO, Debt arrangement and M&A mandates
3. Successfully and efficiently build, lead and manage a high caliber team (IBD Group)
4. Contribute to and influence setting strategy for the business in line with the overall investment banking strategy set by the firm.
5. Recommending objectives, policies, and plans for the business.
6. Managing the development of the local and regional business strategy and implementing it through driving achievement against targets for revenue generation, product alignment, customer satisfaction and cost containment.
7. Creating a professional, proactive, and performance driven culture, motivating his team by communication and involvement, objective setting and review, personal development planning, and recognition and reward.
8. Establishing and maintaining high level contacts with current and prospective clients.
9. Establishing and maintaining networks for co-operation with other HC Group offices to support the creation of solutions to customer needs that span national product boundaries and regulatory environments.
10. Maintaining the firms internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external regulatory and compliance issues.
11. Planning ahead for succession and continuity of skills at direct report level, developing people and recruiting with the objective of meeting future as well as present needs of the department
12. Driving the implementation of major change initiatives within the business area, e.g., concerning new products, delivery mechanisms, technology, MIS, people management initiative, performance improvement, business re-structuring,
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
1. Top class undergraduate degree from leading university and post graduate degree: MBA, MSC (Finance) or CFA
2. 10 years of experience in Investment Banking or Corporate Banking with demonstrable M&A execution experience
3. A good track record of leading successful investment banking / financing transactions in Egypt or the MENA region
4. Excellent people management skills.
5. Charm, presence, ability to build long term relationships
6. Strong sales skills
7. Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand complex data quickly.
8. Extensive experience with financial modeling and analyses
9. Strong knowledge of accounting and financial concepts; ability to analyze and value businesses
