Directorate overview: Data and Analytics Transformation
Almost everything the Bank of England does depends on the effective use of data and analytics. The Data and Analytics Transformation Directorate (DAT) helps the Bank to make the best use of data and analytics to fulfil its mission by
• Being the Bank’s centre of expertise for the… compilation, dissemination and publication of regulatory and statistical data. Our data enables Bank staff, policy-makers, international organisations and society more broadly to understand the financial system and make informed decisions.
• Using data science expertise to help the Bank excel as a leading research and analytics institution. We use cutting edge machine learning techniques to answer varied policy questions, meet the computational challenges of big or complex data, and help areas across the Bank unlock greater insights from ever more data.
• Providing the tools, platforms, services, training and specialist support to help staff find, analyse and use data and analytics to achieve their business outcomes.
• Developing and promoting innovation in data analysis tools and technologies to support analysis, policy, and decision making across the Bank.

Job description
You will be part of a team that is leading the effort to achieve the two key outcomes of the Bank’s data and analytics strategy: to build the capability of teams across the Bank to use data and analytics, and to apply this capability to better achieve their business outcomes.
You will do this by partnering with a wide variety of stakeholders across the Bank as part of the Data and Analytics Business Partners team. The partners translate and link business teams’ aspirations and needs, and the support offered by central data and analytics service teams. To support this, you will build strong and trusted advisor relationships with key people and teams.
Day-to-day you will consult, advise and co-ordinate on enabling the better use of data and analytics in the Bank, including through guidance and participation in projects and change initiatives.
You will support the formulation of opportunities to improve the use of data and analytics beyond current practices and embrace new ideas to ‘explore the art of the possible’. As part of this you will support business leaders to embed better use of data and analytics in their business strategies.
There are no plans for this role to have direct reports or any line management responsibility.

Salary and Benefits Information
We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.
In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:
• A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
• A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
• A 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
• 26 days’ annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.

National Security Vetting Process
Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process (and typically can take between 6 to 12 weeks post offer) and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
