Job Summary
SC Ventures was set up in 2018 and today has geography teams across key locations outside Singapore – in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Kenya, Silicon Valley, UK and the UAE. The role of the Saudi Arabia Lead is to accelerate the expansion of SC Ventures mandate in the country and connect the ecosystem with other location in the region.
The Middle East innovation landscape is expanding at a fast pace and this role is a key position to integrate SC Ventures and the Bank in Saudi Arabia with that ecosystem and drive change in business models and innovation agenda. The role will support the Geo lead in UAE to provide coverage more broadly across the Middle East.
The role will assess emerging business models in Saudi Arabia which are relevant for other SCB markets and build long term partnerships with clients and fintechs in the region including sourcing potential M&A transactions, working closely with Corporate Development and Funds team.
Key Responsibilities
Business
• Engage… Clients, Fintechs, Venture ecosystem in the country for co-creation, PoCs, M&A and venture building opportunities while working closely with the team/capabilities
• Incubate business ventures and mentor teams which originate from Saudi Arabia or are focused on these markets helping them with problem statement, strategy, value proposition, business model and build plan in partnership with the incubation team
• Enable portfolio of ventures including funding and expansion plans to the country
• Engage and educate senior stakeholders in the country about SC Ventures mandate, strategy and progress including aspects of governance
• Represent SC Ventures in external events in the Country and build strong relationships with key government bodies and associations
• Drive culture and mindset change in the country by engaging employees and stakeholders.
• Execute the country responsibility by supporting SCV’s overall agenda
Processes
Client and Fintech engagement
• Work with business leaders in the country to engage clients for co-creation and joint-venture opportunities for business model innovation.
• This will require identification of problem statement, arranging HCD workshops, designing solutions and entering into MoUs/JV agreements with the ultimate goal to set up new ventures which will change the business mix and provide optionality for the Group.
• Fintech engagement is important for assessing M&A opportunities and finding solutions to problem statements
Disruptive Business Models/ Ventures
• Accountable for identifying disruptive business models, coaching intrapreneurs and incubating them to scale
• Work with the broader SCV platform team to take ventures through the journey including engaging venture building firms in the country.
• Ensure business models will be commercially viable and scalable ventures set up as independent entities
• Identify market opportunity for the ventures and facilitate market entry in the country
• Stakeholder education/ mindset change
• Bring Country MT Members, Board Members including INEDs and country leadership on the SCV journey – via regular engagement/ teach-ins on progress, strategy, challenges and governance
• Ensure strong link established between stakeholders and SC Ventures workstreams.

• Responsible for effective governance of SCV activities in the country, ensuring appropriate governance structures and measures are in place.
• Have an awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
