Job Purpose

Responsible for overseeing the bank’s risk management strategy and operations, reporting directly to KSA-GM. This executive role requires a comprehensive understanding of operational risk, credit risk, and market risk, with the aim of safeguarding the bank’s assets, reputation, and compliance with regulatory standards in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all risk-related matters at NBK KSA, representing the bank to regulators and engaging with the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) as necessary.
• Provide strategic advice to the General Manager on all risk-related issues.
• Foster and enhance a risk-aware culture across NBK KSA, aligning with the risk strategy of NBK Group.
• Act as a facilitator for various departments, providing consultation and guidance on risk assessments conducted by relevant risk owners within NBK KSA.
• Oversee the professional development and performance of the credit risk… credit control teams.
• Present recommendations to respective IBG Credit Committee and approve as part of local credit committee where applicable. Part of Local Credit Committee and perform all acts as required in the local credit committee responsibilities.
• Support business by providing trade and structuring solutions on a timely basis. Ensure clear communication with corporate banking for exchange of view and information to facilitate credit decisions.
• Identify and phase out high-risk assets, addressing problematic issues to minimize potential losses.
• Ensure quality of credit reviews is line with the NBK group standards of due diligence.
• Undertake counterparty due-diligence visits as and when needed.
• Execute a regular portfolio review with the aim to identify vulnerable names and recommend necessary action.
• Contribute to revision and improvement in the credit policy, risk appetite policy and all other policies as directed time to time by NBK Head Office and Regulator.
• Be fully engaged in the local franchise and governance structure.
• Contribute to overall improvement in the process of risk management division and to NBK KSA processes as well.

Educational Qualifications & Experience

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Minimum of an MBA; additional qualifications such as CFA or FRM are preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• 12-15 years in Corporate Banking or Risk Management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Relevant experience in the banking industry is essential.
• Proven experience in designing complex trade and financing structures.
• Fluent in English (verbal and written); proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
• Must be a Saudi national.
