The Open Care Group are seeking a motivated and caring individual to join us to work in one of our Post-16 Supported Living Homes as a Housing Officer as part of our Bank Staff team. Accountable to: Responsible Individual, Registered Service Manager, Senior Housing Officer. Location of Service: The Open Care Group Purpose of the Position · To provide advice, assistance, and support to young people. · To attend to their practical, physical, and emotional needs. · To act as an appropriate role model to support and help them address their difficulties. · To unconditionally care and support young people, contributing to them achieving their optimal potential. Specific Role… and Responsibilities · To deliver and maintain a high-quality of care and support which meets the physical, emotional, educational, health, intellectual, social, and cultural needs of the young people. All support staff should work from the guidelines of relevant regulations and legislation, such as the 1989 and 2004 Children’s Act, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 with the Quality Standards, the Care Standards, and all other relevant legislation. · To provide a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment in which young people can feel safe, secure, and free from harm. · To establish positive and rewarding relationships with the young people whilst providing unconditional and positive support. · Challenge unacceptable behaviour and reward acceptable behaviour, helping young people to understand their behaviours. · Ensuring that each young person’s care plan is followed and amended, when appropriate, to reflect their individual needs. · Overseeing and supporting the young people’s daily structures and routines. · To act as an appropriate role model and key worker for the young people, offering advice and guidance where necessary and ensuring that all their individualised care needs are being met. · Providing advice, assistance, and support to help young people through the difficulties they may face. · Being enthusiastic and supportive whilst helping young people to achieve their goals and optimise their full potential. · Providing support for young people in relation to education, work placements, health appointments, and extracurricular activities etc. · Completing accurate records and reports about the young people’s progress for meetings and reviews. · Empowering young people and facilitating their involvement in the decisions made about their lives and futures. · Acting as an advocate for the young people during important meetings. · Ensuring young people attend offsite activities with the aim of expanding their social networks. Working as Part of a Team · Familiarise yourself with the aims and objectives of the home, and work effectively with colleagues to achieve these. · Attend staff meetings, making a positive contribution to them to encourage development of the staff team. · Share important information with colleagues to develop best practice. · Give and receive feedback on professional practice with your colleagues and Managers. · Providing informal and emotional support to colleagues when needed. · Attending and contributing to regular supervision sessions. · Monitoring the conduct of co-workers and follow safeguarding policies and procedures on any cause for concern. · Being familiar with all policies and procedures and adhering to them at all times. Additional Responsibilities · Completing mandatory training and maintaining an up-to-date training and personal development profile. · Maintaining relevant financial records where appropriate. · Responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of self and colleagues in accordance with the requirements of Health & Safety policies. Other Conditions · This post requires the holder to follow a shift pattern, which includes early mornings and late evening work. Some weekends and Bank Holidays are also required. This will be displayed on a rota system which you will receive 4 weeks in advance. · This post requires the holder to have a clear Criminal Records Bureau check at all times, and changes to personal circumstances which may affect this must be notified to your Line Manager immediately. · This post requires the holder to provide two UK-based business references.
