Join us as an Architecture Lead for Market Place & Climate
• Join a team that is shaping the future of managing, sharing and sourcing data across the bank and help us unlock the full potential of our data
• You’ll be defining the intentional architecture for the bank’s data marketplace and shared data platforms, making sure that the current architecture being delivered by engineers best supports the enterprise and its long term strategy
• With valuable exposure, you’ll be building and leveraging relationships with colleagues across the bank to ensure commercially focused decisions and to create long term value for the bank

What you’ll do

We’re embarking on a new and exciting phase of the bank’s transformation agenda, and the bank’s enterprise data marketplace is a critical enabler of our mission to simplify, reduce risk and enable customer engagement and personalisation. This agenda is critical to driving simplification, enabling advanced and agile analytics and delivering… exceptional experience to our customers.

As an Architect Lead, you’ll be defining and communicating the current, resultant and target state architecture for your assigned scope. You’ll be making sure that the architecture links to, and is informed by, our overall strategy and architecture, and produces the architecture outcomes. We’ll look to you strongly influence the development of business strategies within your function and across the bank, identifying transformational opportunities for our businesses and technology areas associated with both new and existing technologies.

In addition, you’ll will manage and mentor a team of specialist and senior enterprise architects supporting the enterprise architecture for data marketplace, shared data platforms and climate data fostering a collaborative, high performance culture that encourages innovation. You’ll also drive adoption and enforcement of data architecture across the bank and act as the expert in data marketplace, shared data platforms, data product architecture, data integration and data processing.

As well as this, you’ll be:
• Translating architecture roadmaps into packages of work that allow frequent incremental delivery of value to be included in product backlog
• Defining, creating and maintaining architecture models, roadmaps, standards and outcomes, using architecture strategies to ensure alignment to adjacent and higher level model
• Working closely with business owners, portfolio managers, product managers and release managers to define the target intentional architecture
• Leading complex and technically challenging architectural transformations, coordinating design and platform teams across domains
• Seeking out and utilising continuous feedback, fostering adaptive design and engineering practices to drive the collaboration of programmes and teams around a common technical vision
• Leading, influencing and governing data market place and shared data platforms architectures ensuring these meet the banks data sourcing, data management and data discovery demands
• Identifying gaps in data architecture culture and skills across your areas of management and influencing supporting plans to resolve, providing mentorship where necessary

The skills you’ll need

We’re looking for someone with a background in defining business and application architectures and roadmaps for complex enterprises. To thrive in this role, you’ll need expert knowledge and experience of shared data platforms and general data architecture, and in-depth knowledge of application, integration, security, infrastructure, and data management architecture with a good knowledge of the remaining architecture disciplines. You’ll also have knowledge of all data reporting, analyses, visualisation, ingestion, processing and storage capabilities and technology trends.

You’ll be the thought leader of data market place and reporting or analytics platforms for the bank, influencing business and technology strategies across franchises and functions. You’ll have excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to colleagues, up to senior leadership level, along with a good understanding of Agile methodologies with experience of working in an Agile team.

You’ll also demonstrate:
• Experience as an enterprise architect with focus on shared data platforms and data marketplace
• Strong knowledge of wider data architecture topics such as data modelling, data analysis, data integration, events, data storage and solution architecture
• Experience and knowledge of AWS Data Stack, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Kafka, ElasticSearch, Neo4J, Streamsets, EMR or Spark, Tableau, Snowflake and PowerBI
• In-depth knowledge of metadata management architecture patterns and solutions
• Knowledge of data lineage and data cataloguing
• Knowledge of data mesh, domain driven design, data lake, data warehouse, ods, data mart, data fabric and data federation architecture patterns
• Strong collaboration, stakeholder management and problem solving skills
• Critical thinking skills, enabling you to cut through complexity, and make sound decisions and recommendations that are carefully balanced against risk
